One of the best, most tolerant dogs I ever dealt with was a pit bull.
Poor thing had been abused & neglected as a pup, but yet grew up to be sweet enough to let kids climb all over him.

It depends on which bloodline they come from, and how they're socialized.

Pit bulls are a lot like chows. They get a bad reputation. I've raised chows for years and have never been bitten, never had a problem with them.
They do tend to be family dogs - don care too much for strangers.
Best dog I ever had was a chow - lost her at the age of 10.

With most dogs, you get what you put into them.

I agree with that. A dog is only as bad as the owner makes it and that goes for any dog imo.
